Micro-Soccer

My husband is a high school coach. He is the Offensive Coordinator of the football team and the Varsity boys basketball coach. My son has started playing MicroSoccer. He usually hops around like a kangaroo with his fingers straight out. He says he is a big truck with pokey things to poke people. My husband, the coach, is going nuts.

Ideally, we would see a lot of running in a herd of kids to kick the soccer ball.

After about an hour, the first day of soccer, in the middle of the field, while the game was occurring, my son decided it was time for his nap. Did I mention this was in the middle of the field?

Three weeks later, my son has developed true leadership skills. He now has a buddy to nap with him! I love Richard's expression here...

Silas's favorite part! Shaking hands means it is time to go.

I would like to note that Silas is still 2. The league is for 3-4 year olds, but since he does turn 3 during the season, he could play. After the first game, Si realized that he was too slow to keep up. He phoned it in after that.

Last Sunday, we told him it was time to get ready for soccer. He said he didn't want to go. When we asked why, he replied,"I just can't keep up with Champ, guys. He is too fast for me." Ha! Champ is our team's allstar!

First Haircut

Mrs. Linda, who has been cutting my hair since middle school, gave my baby his first haircut. It was a little out of control. He kept ending up with a "butt cut" trying to sweep his locks out of his eyes, so Daddy said it was time. This started the transformation from toddler to boy that we have seen over the last couple of weeks. He looks adorable!!! But I really do miss his curls.

Conversations with Silas

In the car this week:

S- Mommy, do you have any babies in your tummy?
M- No bud.
S- How do you get babies in your tummy?
M- Well, we pray and ask God. He decides who gets babies.
S- Ok, I am going to ask for two. A baby brother and a baby sister. I want both.

Bedtime

Silas was putting one of my birthday cards back into the envelope.
Me: Silas, come on. It is bedtime.
 Si: Just a second Mommy.
 Me: Silas...
Si: Mom, I am trying to email this letter!

10 minutes later...
Whining from bedroom. I walk in to see everything in Si's bed stacked on top of each other. He is trying to "make a tall bed to sleep on" and the pug dog "doesn't stay in his spot."

20 minutes later..
Hysterical crying from bedroom. I walk in to see what limb has fallen off causing Si so much pain that he is completely melting down. Oh, he was fine. Dr. Paul Stripes had just fallen out of the bed becuase Si tried to stack him up to "make a rectangle" with all of the things in his bed. You couldn't even see into the bed because Si had the entire rail covered.

Epic Beard

Richard let his beard grow from July 12 until right before Christmas. It was pretty amazing. He HAD to acutally shampoo and condition it... trust me. (Otherwise it was out of control and super smelly.) He finally couldn't take it anymore and shaved. We had to start the process cutting it with scissors because it was so thick.

 The Aftermath

Man, shedding that hair made him look a few years younger!

Christmas

Silas LOVED Santa this year. So much for him ever giving us that screaming pic. Ha! He talked to Santa for about 15 minutes. He had been telling us for 3 weeks he wanted roller skates. Suddenly, in Santa's lap, that story changed.

The only thing Silas asked for this Christmas was "a blue tricycle with a horn and a bell and 5 helmets." Santa found one, and R and I were so excited for Si to see it on Christmas morning. R set up with the video camera to capture the first glance of the trike. I got him out of his bed. He walked around the corner... and instead of a wonderful reaction we got, "Well, there it is." Bahaha! It was priceless. (Many thanks to Granddaddy who helped Santa by putting it together!)

Thanks. A. Lot. Chubbs. The drums were such a great gift.

Richard's family does not take a group picture every year. Hopefully, I can change that ASAP!! (As in next year.)

Things I Want to Remember

Me- Si, what animals live in the ocean?
S- Jaguars!
Me- Jaguars don't live in the ocean. They live in the jungle!
S- But they can swim.
Me- Silas, what lives in the ocean?
S- Fine! Whales! And we can ride on their backs!

Noise from the bedroom- Bleeeeech! (repeat multiple times)
Me- Silas! What are you doing?
S- My animals are giving me medicine and I am saying "bleeeeech!"

January 28, 2013 Silas began running like a big boy!

It took until he was almost 3... but he unrolled an entire roll of toilet paper throughout the house. He claimed it was a monster truck track.

Silas loves to "fight" with Daddy all. the. time. It is hilarious. He is becoming pickier regarding food, unless it is chocolate. He does not like broccoli---he says he doesn't eat curly things. Playing pretend is Si's favorite right now.

A couple of nights ago, we heard him playing in his crib about 45 minutes after we put him down. He was straddling the crib bumper. When we inquired what he was doing, he said he was riding his school bus motorcycle and asked if we wanted to ride too.

He LOVES to put the chairs up on Wednesday night at church after supper. It is his favorite part of church right now I think.

Silas still says "sum-prize" for surprise. I love it. He asks for one about 3 times a day. LOL!

January 31, 2013 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Shepherd Tisdale passed away. We are still so sad.
