Racing Si

Silas had his first BMX race a couple of weeks ago. (He was so excited, he even left a birthday party early to race!)

He began BMX in June after learning to ride a bike on his birthday in April. He LOVES riding. It is pretty much all he cares about.

You know we couldn't have such a big day without the loving support of our family. Silas truly had a cheering section! (Even if most of them were in ugly attire.)

Silas did great in his race. He took third place and won a troll-phy. He is determined to win at least 2nd next time as he noticed a 2nd place trophy with flames on it. Ha! Finally racing has sparked a fire in him. He was always excited about practice, but now he is begging to race every day!

We are so proud of his courage and endurance! He has been so brave for a 4 year old little buddy. Just when we get frustrated or want to push him further, we notice that he is in bed with all of his stuffed animals in a perfect line tucked in next to him.

I encourage any of you with kids that love bike riding to check out Circle City BMX. They are so friendly and supportive. They have taught Richard and me so much about a sport we were truly clueless about. They have supported, encouraged, helped, and taught Silas so much! Please check them out!

Baby Jaby is 8 months old!

Baby Jaby is eight entire months old. It is so hard to believe! Time sure does pass more quickly with baby number two! JB is the absolute sweetest, happiest baby in the world. He is always smiling and always ready to explore.

With an army crawl faster than any one I have ever seen, JB moves all over the place. He gets where ever he wants to go as fast as he can. JB will crawl about three steps on hands and knees before he deserts that method and returns to the ever true army scoot. I can't believe how fast he goes! He loves to stand and jump. He can't pull up yet nor go from crawling to sitting. He is so close with pushing up to the sitting position!

JB takes a short morning nap and a long afternoon nap. He is a great night sleeper, usually sleeping from 7 to 7. JB always sleeps with a paci but never wants one during the day. He also likes it in his car seat. Each night, he sleeps in pj's and a sleep sack as he is pretty cold natured. (Si was a sweater. He never slept in a sleep sack and usually wore footless pj's. Surprise, surprise.)

JB has a bottle for breakfast, a fruit and veggie for lunch, a bottle pre nap, a bottle post nap, 2-3 oz of cereal with fruit for dinner, and a bottle prior to bed. JB is not loving his bottles lately, but we are ensuring that he gets the Doc Rams recommended minimum of 16 oz a day. Usually he ends up around 20 per day. JB does not like any food with texture- no puffs, no teething crackers, no level 3 foods, no bread, no nothing. Every time he tries it he begins shivering, gagging, and crying. It is usually a ten minute ordeal. Ha! I am not stressed about it as I am strange about textures sometimes as well. I am certain he will eat solid foods prior to kindergarten. ;) (JB also refuses English pea baby food. Can't blame him there either.)

JB has two teeth now! The bottom two in the middle popped through earlier this month. He LOVES pat-a-cake, pee pie, and clapping. Technically, he can wave "bye-bye" now, but that happened the week after the 8 month mark so I should probably save that until next month's post.

We had JB's baby dedication this month. He wore the same romper Silas wore. The funny thing is: Silas was only 6m old and he was squeezed into it. JB was 8m old and it was rather big! So crazy how different they are! Aunt Judy took great pics, so I will upload them once I get them. My camera had a few.

Sweet Baby JB, we pray that above all else your glorify God with your life, share His great love with others, and tell everyone about His saving grace.

7 months- JB

I keep thinking that there is no possible way JB is 7 months old, yet he is!

This smiley little guy loves life, army crawling, and his walker. Who knew my $5 impulse purchase would bring so much joy? JB always wants to be in the mix, so even though he does love the bouncer, he much prefers the walker because he is right in the middle of us instead of stationary. He loves to play bumper cars with Silas in the "General Lee" and ramming Rudy's food and water bowls to make a huge mess.

JB drinks a bottle for breakfast, eats a fruit, veggie, and yogurt for lunch, has a bottle for snack, eats cereal with fruit for supper, and finishes his day with another bottle. He doesn't like puffs, rice snacks, or juice water yet, but I do offer it to him. It amazes everyone what a big appetite he has for actual food. The boy can put it away.

We still can't get over how much JB moves! Silas was a lump. He never rolled, scooted, or crawled. You could sit him somewhere and come back to find him in the same exact spot 30 minutes later. Not even a favorite toy or snack could entice Silas to move. JB, on the other hand, is all over the place. You sit him down and he immediately rolls to his stomach and army crawls to somewhere else. Nothing is off limits. It is a whole new world for us as parents. JB doesn't crawl on all fours yet, but that is not a deterrent. He also stopped sleeping swaddled this month!

Overall, Baby Jaby has an extremely pleasant disposition. He is all smiles all the time. He will cry when he gets sleepy, but that is about it. JB doesn't talk as much as his brother did; although he has been known to say dadadadada, mamamama, and buhbuhbuhbuh. (Not in recognition of any of us- just baby talking.) Neither R nor I are big on siblings calling each other "Brother" or "Sissy" etc. However, Silas is determined that JB will call him Bubba. We do not know where that came from but have given up on convincing Silas otherwise. I guess we will have to wait and see what JB decides.

This month, JB got to go to the beach for the very first time! He did not really love it, but the rest of us did. He also sat in his first highchair at Dusty's- our favorite place to eat while in PCB. (Yes, we do have beach pics, but I am saving the swimsuit photos for our eyes only. Ha!)

Richard and Silas are the two tiny specs in the foam.

JB wears size 6m to some 9m clothes and size 3 diapers. He can still wear size 2 diapers during the day ok, but we ran out and bumped him up to 3s a few weeks ago. (Hooray for diaper showers and free diapers!!!) He is much smaller than Silas was, so I am hoping all of Si's winter clothes will work for JB. (They are 12m- yes, Si really was a jumbo.) I am not so sure what he will wear through the fall until he bumps up sizes, but we will make it work. ;) JB has a lot more hair than his big brother did. His eyes are a wonderful blue/green. They change depending on what he is wearing. Sometimes they are as blue as blue can be. Other times they are a hazy gray green. I love it!

JB is a true sweet heart and an absolute blessing to our family! Don't forget to check out his pictures with John Brown!

Here is Si for comparison's sake. :)
